During the chaos of the Cormanthor War, the Warblade was used as bargaining chip between the drow and elves.to what extent the bargain worked and what happened to the blade afterwards, is as yet unrevealed. Meanwhile Coronal Isvele Meiritar was alerted by ancient wards in Myth Drannor that the blade had been returned to the Realms Above and was keen to retrieve it. However after an abortive attempt by House Dhuurniv, one of the few surviving houses, to resettle the ruined city they managed to retrieve the Warblade from beneath the Courtyard of Lolth.īy 1375 DR, the Warblade had been moved by the Matron Sisters of House Dhuurniv to their holdings in the Shadowdark beneath the Old Skull in Shadowdale. Although after years of searching, Josidiah failed to find the Warblade but, in 674 DR, he instead returned to Myth Drannor with the lost ( ) instead but had to trade his figurine to acquire it.Įventually in 1372 DR, the drow city of Maerimydra fell to the combined forces of Kurgoth Hellspawn and Irae T'sarran. In, the bladesinger Josidiah Starym, embarked on a quest into the Underdark with his magical figurine that could turn into the panther, Guenhwyvar, to retrieve the Warblade. In the clutches of the drow they took the Warblade back to their city of Maerimydra, nestled in the Middledark of the Deep Wastes and sequestered the artifact beneath the great Courtyard of Lolth there. Although the Warblade rose up to defend the Arms-Major's body, the dark elves used magic to paralyse the elfblade and retreated to the Underdark with both the Warblade and Orym Hawksong's body. ![]() During the great battle for the tower, Orym, wielding the Warblade, was defeated by the drow. Led by Arms-Major Orym Hawksong, the elves managed to drive back the drow and breach the defences of the Tower. However this line of ownership was broken in -331 DR, during the Shadow Wars, when the armies of Coronal Tannivh of Cormanthyr and Connak of Rystall Wood join forces to lay siege to the drow-controlled Twisted Tower. Each one in turn was subjected to the Blade-rite of the Warblade to determine if they were a worthy successor. Over the intervening successive Arms-Majors wielded the Warblade in the defence of Cormanthyr and led the Ark'Velarhr (Army of Might). In -3983 DR, the elfblades were used to raise Castle Cormanthor in Myth Drannor, with the Warblade specifically raising the Blade Tower. Alongside the Ruler's Blade was the Artblade and the Warblade, these would determine the chief defenders of Cormanthyr the Spell-Major and Arms-Major respectively. With the Rulers' Blade, they determined a ruler to unite the elven realms and formed the elven kingdom of Cormantyr under Kahvoerm Irithyl. For the next few centuries the elven nations argued and debated how to solve their collective problem, which only resulted in Rystall Wood declaring itself independence from the others.Įventually in -4000 DR, the dying Coronal, Oacenth of Jhyrennstar, commissioned the creations of the three elfblades and out of respect for his status as a prophet of Labelas Enorath, the other Coronals agreed. This devastation was further compounded in -4400 DR when drow and duergar enacted what became known as the Dark Court Slaughter, where the Elven Court was assaulted and defiled, slaying two Coronal's in the process. The realm of Rystall Wood was separated from the great forest after what became known as Twelve Nights of Fire and the realm of Uvaeren was entirely destroyed. In -5000 DR, the disparate elven realms of the Elven Court, Jhyrennstar, Rystall Wood, Semberholme and Uvaeren in the great forest Arcocar (which became latter-day Cormanthor) had suffered a great disaster when a meteor shower tore through the woods.
