The voiceover tells a good story you have to puzzle together, voiced by Rose "You know nothing John Snow" Leslie, and some I assume british gentleman. When the Palace reboots, they'll know everything the Palace learned from you in the previous cycle, making your experience different based on your playstyle, and more difficult the more they know - they forget these in the next cycle, depending on what you did or didn't do in the current cycle to get past them. They can't understand what water or an elevator is, and so wthey just don't walk into it, until you show them their use. If you only hold your weapon pointing at them without pulling the trigger, so will they, not knowing why they do it, only they know it's a sign of agression, so they'll copy it when they attack you. The echos need to learn everything: if you don't shoot, they can't shoot. Vaulting over the handrail to get to a lower level or a short wall to cut down a path in the next cycle will again mean more threats. Suddenly the doors that meant safety in the current cycle, will be a threat to you in form of new enemy patrolling paths. From the early experience it starts off with Interstellar, slowly transitioning to high tension "clean horror" (the kind where everything is super clean and white but you know something is very, very wrong) that somewhat falls behind later on to be replaced by pure gameplay stealth-action, both styles being a puzzle of their own.įrom personal experience: the gameplay is amazing as it gives unprecedented value to your actions: your enemies, as you can see the trailer, adept for a light cycle based on what the Palace learned from you: if you opened a door, so will they be able in the next cycle. It's a 6-7 hour "narrative expeience" stealth-action game. It's the first game of a new indie developer team Ultra Ultra, and honestly if this would be released by a bigger studio, people would refer to it as the next Portal. ECHO was a much awaited game for me, and sadly it doesn't seem to have any media coverage at all.
