Well, if issue lies in keys but not in mouse you can try using "mixed" controls and so called "gaming" mouse. In console game, my thumbs control movement and aiming and the trigger finger pulls the trigger. I can't type without looking at the keys! Can't fight like that. trigger axes) might not work same as in "xbox mode", and you'll lose audio feature (they got headphone jack, cool stuff). If you'd use it as standard bluetooth pad you will lose those benefits and some buttons (eg. MS devised its own wireless protocol with better latency and other nice stuff, which is used by Xbox and usb dongles. It appears earlier models were not capable of communicating over standard bluetooth (but all had USB connectivity with Windows). I played with 2016 model (3rd revision), which came with usb dongle. Maybe in artillery, or in filthy EBR with its autoaim snap support, you might be able to play on "yellow" level, but forget about "green" outside of farming SA bots. Sticks select direction and force, mouse selects pixel. However regardless of gamepad you will be severely limited in aiming department. If you'd get monstrosity like Xbox Elite controller, or some other weird gamepad, you might get use out of more fingers but gamepads will still lack in buttons without in-game support. all at same time (and that's what you need for competitive brawling) I can't find configuration where I can drive, aim, shot, zoom, and use consumables, switch ammo. All those fingers holding gamepad from below are wasted. Its not enough to map everything WoT needs (game would have to support multi-press combos, maybe some mapping tools can do that). Due to how typical gamepads are built you get only two axis (dpad/leftstick and rightstick/buttons), two cumbersome stick clicks (but only if you use those sticks), and four shoulder buttons total. Here is replay of me failing to drive in straight line.Īfter that I tried mapping WSAD to D-pad, driving work decently. Every time stick went into diagonal zone cruise control got disabled (as it registered W/D presses) so without buil-in game support its a nightmare. WSAD mapped to 8-directional stick was messing up with cruise controller. It was playable, but I'd end up as 40% tomato with such configuration :]Īs expected pixel-precise aiming on stick is pretty much impossible when compared to how easy it is with (decent) mouse, without "aim assist" (console term for built-in aimbot that makes console players think they can actually aim with gamepad) precise snap shots are impossible. LMB and RMB went to triggers to be mouse-alike. Added fire, R, and F. I mapped left stick to WSAD, right to mouse. Oh well, I managed to find a mapping program that works without any dumb configuration and didn't require reboot. If you have some sort of disability/deformity/arthrisis/etc of hands you might find alternate forms of keyboard/mouse easier to use, for example there are "3d mouse" volant thingies and mini keyboard (WSAD and some action buttons) that fit single hand, so there are many options you can go instead of problematic gamepad. In meantime you could try describing your exact issues with keyboard/mouse. If you want I can dig out my gamepad and make some short how-to, and check how playable it actually is (aiming will of course be inferior to mouse, but I am worried that movement on just one stick will be too constrained). Getting model with usb dongle included (and stated as "wireless" ) is safest way to go if you want to hunt around after market or third party shops. Have in mind that first editions were not as easy to connect to PC, but new one ("flat" design, as in link you provided) should work without problem. For few bucks more you can get it with easy to use dongle attached, which makes it show as standard USB gamepad when connected via dongle so there is no hassle with bluetooth (which native support is horrid in Windows, and which you might not have in PC, while on laptop you are likely to have horrible driver/software that will pose problems)īecause underneath its standard wireless game controller, with extra xbox options on top, It will also work with android phone just by pairing over bluetooth (thats where I use mine) and probably anything else that supports bluetooth controllers. You can connect it either via USB cable or over bluetooth. You will need 3rd party software to map game controller to keyboard+mouse.Īs for Xbox One controller, it will work with Win10 without problems. WoT PC does not support game controllers natively.
